The 2018 Northwest Fire Season Overview

The 2018 long-range wildfire season forecast for the Northwest is out and shows some varying data for Washington and Oregon. The state of Washington’s snowpack is near or above normal, while Oregon’s snowpack is significantly below normal according to Predictive Services National Interagency Fire Center. This makes the individual wildfire forecasts for the two states rather different.

How to Protect Your Community From Wildfires

Last year nearly 9,000 wildfires ripped through California, burning an estimated 1.2 million acres of land. Those fires also destroyed 10,800 structures, including homes, barns and commercial buildings. And, at least 46 people lost their lives in the California fires.

Of course we hope that nothing like this comes to our neighborhood, but if it does it’s best to be prepared.
